Leicester Safer World Cup 2010 - Love the passion...Hate the violence

Safer World Cup 2010
Safer World Cup 2010

We want the people of Leicester City to feel confident about themselves, their neighbourhoods, their city and their future. In keeping with the Vision of “One Leicester” we want people to feel safe in any part of the city, at any time.  We want there to be low rates of crime and less fear of crime.

During the football world cup 2010, the Safer Leicester Partnership is running a “Safer World Cup” campaign. The world cup  starts on June 11th 2010, and we hope it will be a time of great celebration and enthusiasm.  We know that for some, the matches will provoke fear of violence and abuse.  Harm caused by sexual violence, domestic violence and alcoholabuse can increase during this time.  We've seen it happen our city before.  We want people to have good memories and not regrets or fear during this world cup.  Help us reduce harm and make it safer for everyone.

From the 14th June to the 14th July various media with a high visual impact will be rolled out across the City. Buses both inside and out, posters, radio advertisements.  Articles in the Link,  “credit cards” and whistles will be distributed across the City promoting passion for football but not tolerating violence.
