Awareness campaign

The Leicester Domestic Violence Forum Partnership runs a domestic violence awareness campaign each year around the end of November. The key aim of the campaign is to increase understanding of what domestic violence is, to make people aware of the resources that are available locally and to challenge acceptance of domestic violence.

The 2008 awareness campaign took place 24 – 28 November, with a number of other events and activities also taking place in the weeks leading up to the main campaign itself.

Events in the 2008 domestic violence awareness campaign included:

Thursday 16 October

• Health and safety event, Linwood Centre, Linwood Lane, Leicester (domestic violence advice and support)
  

Tuesday 28 October

• Domestic violence training (subject: introduction to working with domestic violence)
  

Saturday 1 November

• Charity night dinner / dance, Peepul Centre, Orchardson Avenue, Leicester
  

Monday 3 November

• Domestic violence training (subject: working with men)

Monday 10 November

• Domestic violence training (subject: domestic violence and LGBT)

Monday 17 November

• Domestic violence training (subject: disabled women experiencing violence from men they know)
