The ‘One Leicester’ Strategy has seven key priorities, one of which is
‘Improving Wellbeing and Health’. It highlights the need to make sure
that services are able to meet the needs of the Leicester community
over the next 25 years.
To do this and meet the diverse and constantly changing needs of
the population of Leicester, changes are needed in the way we currently
provide health and social care services for people with drug and/or
alcohol problems and also people affected by drug/alcohol use.
These changes cannot be made without finding out from everyone who
will be affected what they think of the current services
and how they would like to see the service provided in the future.
We recently carried out a consultation to seek views and comments on the proposed new service model. This consultation, which is now closed, involved service users, service providers,
support agencies, members of the public and all others with an interest
in the delivery of alcohol and drug services in Leicester.
The formal tendering of services is currently underway. This is being conducted by Leicester City Council on behalf of the Safer Leicester Partnership.
